HIKING

There are plentiful hikes to explore here in Vail. One of our most convenient is Berry Picker, considered intermediate, which is right out your back door up Vail Mountain. You can follow the trail to the top of
Eagles Nest meandering through wild flowers, pines, and aspen trees. Once to the top, you can either ride down on the Eagle-Bahn Gondola or hike back down. This hike takes approximately 2-3 hours one way. Short on time? You can loop this trail back to Lionshead Village about a mile up or take it east towards Vail Village. Don’t feel like hiking up? Ride the Eagle Bahn Gondola to the top of Vail where you will experience easier hikes with breathtaking views. Some other favorite hikes located in the Vail area and worth exploring are Booth Falls, Piney Lake & Falls, Cross Creek, Whitney Lake, Missouri Lakes, to name a few. Please inquire at the front desk for more information.

BIKING

There are numerous biking trails here in Vail, all accessible right out your door atop Vail Mountain or even an easy ride for the family into Vail Village and a little further into East Vail on the pedestrian bike
path. If you are looking for more of an adventure at lower elevation we recommend driving to Eagle, approximately 30 miles west of Vail. Eagle has many mountain biking trails ranging from novice to expert. For more information visit their website: mountainbikeeagle.com. If road biking is your forte Eagle County offers 58 miles of paved recreational paths from Vail to Edwards. The ever popular Vail Pass ride east of Vail is 8.7 miles with elevation gain of 1,831 feet. If you are not feeling the climb there are nearby bike shops that will shuttle you to the top of Vail Pass that you can ride back down to Vail. Inquire at the front desk for more information.

DRIVING

Experience Colorado outside the beautiful landscape of Vail Valley. Whether you plan on taking a full day drive or just a couple of hours, there is so much to see. Looking to be in the car for just a couple of hours, head South on Highway 24 for the Leadville Loop or stay in Vail and head north on Red Sandstone to Piney Lake; a dirt road that meanders to the scenic Piney Lake with breathtaking views of the Gore Range. While visiting Piney Lake stop by Piney River Ranch where they offer horseback riding, fishing, canoeing and stand up paddle boarding. Hope to go a bit further? Head west and drive through stunning Canyon and make sure to leave enough time to take a dip in the Glenwood Hot Springs and visit the Adventure Park where family
fun awaits.
