Recommendation for a Perfect Three-Day Summer Weekend in Vail
Insider Tips and Recommendations on how to make the best of your weekend in Vail!
Perfect Day #1: Start your day with breakfast and a coffee at the Westside Cafe in West Vail - Vail's best spot for breakfast. After breakfast, check with the front desk at the Landmark Tower to inquire about the availablity of our free courtesy bikes (or rent bikes from Vail Sports or Wheel Base located in the Landmark building). Enjoy a leisurely bike ride along the Gore Creek recreation path which runs throughout the Town of Vail. Grab a bite to eat in Vail Village - you will find a variety of lunch options and picnic spots throughout town.
After lunch, spend your afternoon lounging by the pool at either the Landmark or Vantage Point pools. Remember to wear sunscreen - the sun is powerful here at 8,150 feet. Plan on dinner at Sweet Basil (one of Vail's top restaurants which is consistently mentioned in Food & Wine and Wine Spectator Magazines as well as Zagats!). After dinner, enjoy a walk along Gore Creek and check out a performance at Ford Ampitheatre (home to Bravo!, Vail International Dance Festival and weekly concerts).
Perfect Day #2: Get up early to beat the crowds and hike up Vail Mountain along Berrypicker trail! This is a great workout to start your day - and the Eagle Bahn Gondola is free to download if you hike up the mountain! Reward yourself with lunch at Moe's Bar-B-Que in Lionshead Village - don't miss the banana pudding!
Plan your activity of choice for the afternoon. Plenty of options are available - we recommend a whitewater raft trip through scenic Glenwood Canyon, an ATV tour at Camp Hale or golf at one of the Vail Valley's many courses. After your afternoon of fun, return to your condominium but don't miss the free gondola rides up Vail Mountain (free to foot traffic Thursday-Saturday nights starting at 5pm!). Enjoy dinner at any number of great restaurants in Vail or Lionshead - try Montauk Seafood Grill for great seafood options.
Perfect Day #3: Don't miss the Minturn Market (held every Saturday during the summer months) or the Vail Farmers Market (held every Sunday during the summer months) - this is the perfect place to pick up a souvenir of your Vail trip! After a morning of shopping, head to Gore Creek Flyfisherman in Vail Village for a free fly-casting session (hosted daily at 11am).
In the afternoon, head to Aria Spa and treat yourself to your favorite spa treatment. No trip to Vail in the summer months is complete without a trip to the Betty Ford Alpine Gardens, the highest botanical gardens in the United States. In the evening, stay home and relax by taking advantage of the fully-equipped kitchen in your condominium and grill steaks on your deck in the evening (all Landmark and Enzian condominiums have a gas grill).
