Free Summer Activities: Budweiser Hot Summer Nights Concerts - Free concerts on Tuesday nights at the Gerald R Ford Amphitheater East of Vail Village starting mid-June through the end of July. See the Calendar of Events for more information. Beaver Creek Concert Series - Saturdays at 4:30pm during July and August. Don’t miss this eight-week concert series held in the center of Beaver Creek Village. Enjoy music ranging blues and jazz to Celtic and Latin. Featuring nationally recognized bands, the series is a family friendly social event with food, drink and great music! See the Calendar of Events for more information. Vail Village/Wall Street Riddles - Take a stroll down Wall Street in Vail Village and solve the riddles. There is a series of picture riddles etched in the sidewalk. Some are names of Vail ski runs and others are common Vail activities or sayings. Don't look if you don't want to know the answers because here there are: Fish or cut bait Avon's Lakeside Cinema - Friday nights at 8:30pm during from mid- July through the end of August at Nottingham Park in Avon. Gather friends and family and stretch out on Nottingham Field for Avon's New Lakeside Cinema - an outdoor film series on summer Friday nights. Each week a large screen will be erected and classics and favorite films will be shown at dark. Vendors will provide concessions. Past movies have included The Muppet Movie, Airplane, and Groundhog Day. Movies take place Friday evenings around dusk in August. See the Calendar of Events for more information. Gondola Rides - Throughout the summer (mid- June until Labor Day), the Eagle Bahn Gondola offers free rides up Vail Mountain after 4pm until 9pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Check out Vail's FAC (Friday Afternoon Club) where you can enjoy live entertainment at 10,000 feet. For more information, check with the Activities Desk at 970-476-9090. Farmers Markets - Vail, Minturn and Edwards offer Farmers Markets that boost some of best vendors in Colorado. Items for sale usually include organic freshly picked fruits and vegetables, freshly made breads, pastries, cheeses and ice cream. Others offer delightful selections of pastas, pickles, brats, Thai specialties, honey, jams, jellies, chocolates, salsas, olive oils, vinegars, soaps, dog biscuits/treats, wines, jerky, coffee beans, smoked salmon and more. Selections change weekly. See the Calendar of Events for more information. Betty Ford Alpine Gardens - A public botanic garden curating a fully documented collection of high elevation plants. Walk through at your own pace and enjoy the beautiful flora and fauna the high country has to offer. Located East of Vail Village, next to the Ford Amphitheater. Colorado Ski Museum - Trace the history of skiing in Colorado at the Colorado Ski Museum, located in the upper level of the Vail Transportation Center. The museum invites you to travel back to times when skiers braved exciting mountains with primitive, basic equipment. Learn about the 10th Mountain Division, many of whom pioneered skiing in Colorado...or check out the figures honored in Colorado's Ski Hall of Fame |
