The Wait is Over.  The Celebration has Begun!

LionsHead Village is undergoing a transformation to become Vail Square.  This renovation will make it a vibrant, exciting, fun place to be.  Vail Resorts broke ground on the Arrabelle at Vail Square in April, 2005 (which, when completed, will consist of a new hotel, residences, retail & public facilities), following more than a decade of planning and anticipation. The Arrabelle at Vail Square redevelopment is arguably the most significant project in Vail since LionsHead was originally built and its ongoing progress will be of particular interest to the future tenants of the development, surrounding property owners, residents and of course, our guests.

An infusion of more than a billion dollars is being invested in Vail over the next few years. It’s an unprecedented effort to make the guest experience better than ever and to maintain our ranking as the No. 1 ski resort in North America. Destination Resorts Vail properties include the Landmark Tower & Townhomes, Enzian, Vantage Point, Vail 21, Westwind and Village Inn Plaza.  Our condominium rentals range from one-bedroom to four-bedroom+loft, value to deluxe, all in the heart of Vail’s Lionshead Village or Vail Village.  All properties located within 75-200 yards to the Gondola except Village Inn Plaza (500 yards to the Vista Bahn). 

This information sheet contains construction schedule and information about construction plans at Vail Square (Lionshead Village).  The following construction plans are all taking place near Destination Resorts properties.   Please note that information contained here is subject to change at any time.

Future of LionsHeadVillage

When complete, Vail Square will consist of a new European-inspired plaza with:

• New full-service, skier services facilities including lift ticket sales, equipment rentals, ski storage, lockers, ski and snowboard school, shopping and après ski restaurant and bar.
• New dining and shopping opportunities
• New winter ice-skating plaza and entertainment venues to gather with friends and family
• The new and improved skier bridge connecting Vail Mountain with The Arrabelle at Vail Square is complete and open for use. Bridge has doubled in width from 20' to 40' and includes a separate pedestrian walkway which will be maintained in the winter.
• Destination Resorts Vail guests will have easy and convenient access to all the new and exciting amenities being built!

Construction Schedule (subject to change)

• Winter 2006/200 – Construction continues throughout the winter within the site
• Summer 2007 – Anticipated delivery of first Arrabelle residences
• Fall 2007 – The Arrabelle hotel opens

Construction is currently scheduled for Monday-Saturday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

LionsHead pedestrian access and construction traffic

There will be pedestrian access through LionsHead at all times. Some walkways may have temporary surfaces (asphalt or other surface), and pedestrian access routes will move during the course of construction.   We will have signage to direct people safely around the area, and are working with the Vail Valley Chamber & Tourism Bureau’s Information Booth personnel to help direct guests as well.

Construction will continue during winter 2005 – however, it should be confined to The Arrabelle site itself.  The site will be surrounded by a construction wall throughout the winter and we anticipate that there will be full access to all LionsHead stores, restaurants and lodging properties.  Main access to the Gondola will be down the stairs adjacent to Garfinkel’s.  We are also looking at other access points.

Summer Gondola and VistaBahn operations

• The Eagle Bahn Gondola is currently scheduled to run June 24 to September 5 and run seven days per week.
• The Vista Bahn is currently scheduled to run July 1 to September 5 on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Facilities relocations

Vail Resorts has made arrangements for all essential guest services to stay in LionsHead while The Arrabelle at Vail Square is being constructed so that our guests will continue to enjoy the same level of service they have come to expect. 

• During summer 2005 and the 2005/2006 ski season, ticket offices and public restrooms will be located in temporary facilities in the ski yard near the Eagle Bahn Gondola.  Lift tickets will also be sold at the two SSV Sports locations on the mall.  Adult and Children’s Ski School will remain in their current locations

• During the winter of 2006/2007, it is anticipated that Ski School and Ticket Offices will move into their permanent locations in the southeast corner (nearest the Gondola) of The Arrabelle at Vail Square.
